PROBLEM OF PRACTICE
Oakview Elementary has consistently been a B school since its opening. However, students of color continue to perform significantly lower than their white counterparts even though they make up less than 25% of the overall student population. The inconsistencies regarding the growth and achievement of students of color has yet to be addressed. Based on observations and conversations, it is assumed that the slight decrease in overall CCR and Proficiency scores along with low achievement amongst students of color is due, in part to inconsistencies in the Professional Learning Team structure and lack of support being provided to students based on their individual data.

The current PLT framework lacks structure and consistency across grade levels and common assessment data is not frequently used or discussed to drive future planning and instruction. My problem of practice will be implementing an effective PLT structures by establishing of school-wide PLT protocols and expectations, creation of a common agenda and building team rapport.
